car and spanner warning light

hi, sorry if this covered elsewhere had a look but didn't find anything,

today i parked up in car park after maybe 15 miles driving and left it, when went back to it turned the key and wouldn't start up, spanner and car light on, second attempt car started but light stayed on. turned engine off for few mins see if it cleared but car then wouldn't even consider firing up, starter going like hell but not even an attempt at firing up. left car stood for 10 mins then tried again started up fine and now no light driven ok since.

wouldn't normally worry but on hols at mo so dont really need to have any probs with it.

any ideas, should i worry too much

I think you will have to put it down to a one off thing at the moment but your model suffers from fuel pump issues. It could be the start of a pump problem.

Sounds like the problem I had:-

Needed new fuel pump and regulator. If that is the case, sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Have a 150bhp 1.9cdti 05 Vectra Estate. I have a car with spanner symbol through it. Only comes on when turn on ignition and goes off immediately engine is running for a couple of seconds. Runs very economically, does not miss a beat. Drained fuel filter to see if any water in there. Spanner and Car still appear at start-up but goes out straight away. Manual says its okay of it comes on and goes out. May also be recording a previous fault. Did have to replace alternator a month ago...could be reporting that problem... any way of clearing the symbol anyone?

To clear ECU just disconnect the battery for atleast 30min and re-connect. If you are going to do this make sure you have your radio code handy to re-input if required and you will have to press and hold your electric window switches for a few seconds to re-intiate the auto up and down function.
