    Default 35mm Apex Springs

I have just fitted some 35mm Apex springs to my 2.2 Sri and they look great...although its only lowered it a little, ride is lovely.

Its already on bilstein B4's to thats helped no end. The only problem is, theres a knocking from the rear springs.

if i hit a bump at speed and sometimes on normal bumpy road there is a strange knocking sound from the rear springs, a loud knock about half a second after the bump.

Ive checked the springs and everything looks fine, followed the instructions when fitting, "apex" written on the springs so be placed so it can be read normally. This ment the righter coils went to the top.

I know other people have fitted them but can anyone tell me if they are upside down, i did follow the instructions to the letter but i can only see this been a possible problem.

    Any advice would be helpful.

I haven't had chance to take any yet, was late when i finished it last night and its done nothing but throw it down with rain since i did it.

Really just wanting to know which way others have fitted apex springs, tight coils to the bottom or top.

just looked in my instructions for them m8 it says "install springs so that their markings can be read in the normal way. this indicates corrct positioning"so sounds like you have them the right way round

    Thanks for the bump!

Thats exactly what i thought, but im sure i saw a thread a month ago when i bought mine that someone fitted them with the righter coils to the bottom, which according to the instructions would mean they installed them upside-down but they didn't have any problems with them.

Im now just wondering if they are positioned correctly on the rubber mounts as if i swivvel them around they are close to the body or the lower arm as they aren't perfectly round. Just wondered where others had positioned them?

Its probably where they are bedding in and the travel is larger than normal making the spring not seat properly hence making the knocking noise when the spring goes back into the correct position. Im not saying this is what your problem is but let them bed in then check if its still doing it. put some weight in the back to help bed them in a bit quicker, should do 500 miles to be absolutely sure they are done.
