    Default Z22YH Fuel Pressure Regulator

Can anyone offer any advice on what you can actually do to test this item after removal? I removed mine today and there was nothing that visably 'moved'. Is that the way it should be, or can something be compressed to test?

How did you get on with this?

My Z22YH Vectra C has 140K miles.. It's apparently had the P Fuel pump and Regulator changed in the past, but the car is posting fault codes to do with Fuel pressure system..

I did check with Vauxhall about the recalls.. but apparently the regulator was done with them along time ago!!

Regulator does look rusted but only surface rust..

I have a new fuel rail assembly coming next week.. (includes regulator, fuel pressure sensor etc etc).. Available under a single part number..

My car's ok.. just had an odd couple of problems.

Driving along ok, then all of a sudden limp mode.. no way to get out of it.. drove home, left it over night.. been driving perfectly since..

Recently just went in for MOT.. Failed on high emissions (We think down to Lambda's needing replacing).. but when i pulled out of the MOT centre car automatically went into limp mode (my guess is they ragged it on rollers trying to get it upto temp for emissions tests)...

Drove home, left over night.. perfect next day and since..

Taken to a new mechanic and he suggests we try regulator.. so i've gone and purchased the whole assembly (Found cheap part online).. will hopefully cover most parts on the fuel rail .. Not sure how hard it is to fit the entire rail, but it was way cheaper to buy it this way then individual parts..

Potentially still could turn out to be HP pump.. Anyone used the recon service somone lists on ebay?? has loads of 5* reviews in his feedback so must be good??

    Thanks

    Pete

Yes Pete..... Apparently he knows his sh*t

When the regulator fails it normally shows up once the car is hot, after maybe 10 minutes of driving. It will suddenly throw up the spanner light, then go into limp home mode. Sometimes it will only show a problem on a hot restart, when the engine will cut out after a few seconds running.

The issue is the regulator's control surface gets sticky with deposits. We can supply a modified one on an exchange basis with a PTFE coating that won't stick. For more money you can get a re-designed new unit with a tungsten carbide tip that won't stick ever.

    Contact us for details.

Apologies for the shameless plug..... But its in member's interests to have the ability to once and for all solve the woeful faults of this otherwise great engine
