Yup, quite a few people have had them in and had no issues, me included. However, it's quite possible that will depend on the tester themselves...

i think with hids your supposed to have auto levelling lights and washers to pass mot but still i have had no problems from 2 mot with them in. Most mot testers arent bothered as long as the can correct the angle

That's really for new cars mate, but like you say, as long they have the correct beam pattern and are aligned correctly, they'll be fine.

My 8K HiDs passed no problem.

The whole subject of fitting aftermarket HID conversions was broached many times over on VxON while I still had my Omega. At the time I did look up the legal standing on fitting of an aftermarket kit rather than retrofitting the HID components from a higer spec version of the same model.
While as far as the law was concerned for an HID fitment to be legal it required self-levelling and washing equipment to be fitted, a couple of site members who were MoT testers themselves pointed out that the lighting check for the MoT only required correct colour, beam pattern and aim.
It may well be that this is still the situation. I'm sure there's a tester or two on this site who can clarify the current test requirements.
