if the wife fancies going to the shops then you could leave her there and drive along to Calderglen, it's not far, most people seem more keen on that.

the choice of shops isn't bad at the kingsgate, but EK shopping centre is much better, one of the biggest in scotland I think

on the other hand you might not get her out again lol
