hi my neighbour has a 2.6 omega thats developed a fault he was driving along the M25 when without any warning the engine cut out and he had to coast to the hard shoulder where the car refused to start so he called the RAC they said it was the fuel pump or the relay they towed him home and a few hours after he went to the car and it started it ran for 5 mins or so then cut out and wouldnt restart hes replaced the fuel pump and the relay and the car started ran for 5 mins and cut out and wont restart ive put my code reader on it and no fault codes are present but the symbol on the dash car with a spanner thru it is on which i thought was the immoblizer? anyway i took the key out of the ignition locked the car then unlocked it put the key in the ignition and it started!! it ran for 5 mins and again cut out whilst the car was running it was perfect no missfire nothing and it now wont restart the car/spanner light is on but was off when the car started whats wrong with this car?????

Crank sensor, thats why RAC said fuel pump as without signal from crank, pump won't work

10 min job to change, nearside just behind oil filter ish, multi plug on other end is just to back of plenum, most Omega owners carry a spare in the car as they often fail

Yip - agree with this Chris - guy round the corner from us asked me to look at his Omega V6 for exactly the same faults that you say - replaced the crank sensor and its been spot on for a month or so now..
