Default Possible relay clunk at switch off

Noticed when switching off ignition after a run that there seems to be what sounds like possibly a relay clunk that can be heard, (doesn't sound like anythings knocking underneath as such) only really noticed it the other day (appears to do it at every shut down)as I had the drivers window open when I shut off, can't hear it from inside the cabin , anyone know what it is?
    Cheers Pete

It might be the air recon servo closing. I don,t know why but they close when you switch the ignition off. Then open again when you "open" (unlock) the door. Strange "eh".
Try sitting in the car and press the air recirc" button on then off, to see if that is the noise you can hear. It is quite promenent (the clunk) on the wifes Vectra B.

Does it with the Air Con switched off mate or does that not matter, incidently tried pressing the recirc button and that doesn't seem to make much of a noise at all really.

I don,t think the air con wold make any difference. I must admit. I can not say I hear the air recirc" servo on mine. But it was just a thought.

I popped it down to local vx dealer this morning and they say it's where the throttle body shuts down and is normal, have to say I did pull up on the side of the road before i got there and popped the hood and could be heard when just switching the ignition on and off and didn't really seem that loud, then it dawned on me that when I hear it quite loudly is at work where I park by the wall of the building, which I guess amplifies the sound, so nothing to worry about really, just me being paranoid with noises again!! must start wearing ear plugs in the car me thinks LOL!!.

Glad you got to the bottom of it, and it is nothing to worry about.
