As Rushy says and if you are disconnecting the battery all together it's good practice to remove -ve 1st then +ve and for refitting it's +ve 1st then -ve.

The reason for this is if you slip with the spanner while undoing the +ve and the spanner is still on the batt terminal, you don't run the risk of shorting out the battery if the spanner hits any part of the bodywork because the -ve has already been disconnected.
Also be aware that if your alarm power sounder has a battery back up, first turn on then off the ignition and then disconnect the car battery within 15 seconds or the alarm will go off. Best to slacken the battery terminal first so you're not fighting time with a spanner.
