    Default When disconnecting the car battery.......

    to do a reset, which lead do I disconnect, the red one or the brown one, or doesn't it make any difference?

    I always put the + live RED on first and the -negative on last.

    The battery is already in the car, i just want to do a reset, am I correct in thinking that just disconnecting one of the leads will do the trick, are you saying just disconnect the + red live one?

    Yes disconect the RED Then leave it disconected for "well as long as you can" they recon about half an hour.

    always disconect a battery via the earth lead (brown) and always reconect it last ....

    and to do a full reset do you need to disconnect both the brown and the red lead or will just one suffice?

    The Neg (brown) is all you need to disconnect.

    As Rushy says and if you are disconnecting the battery all together it's good practice to remove -ve 1st then +ve and for refitting it's +ve 1st then -ve.

    Did a reset on my Signum recently when the instruments had all failed and I only removed the one lead. After the reset don't forget you will need to reset the electric windows to make the "one shot" function work again.
