    Default 1.9 cdti 8v probelm - please help!

    The above car has a fault - I'm taking it on holiday tomorrow!

    Basically, its absolutely gutless, no power.
    There are no clouds of black smoke and if you floor it in 3rd gear inst mpg is about 20, so i dont think its not over fuelling. occasionaly on a 50 mile trip today on light throttle openings, it feels ok for a while, but any more throttle it just goes very weak, as if there is no turbo.

    on a bypass i left it in 2nd gear and at 4000 rpm the spanner light came on and it lost even more power until i re started the engine.

    can anyone help

    have you cleaned the egr valve and boost sensor?

    Sounds like you need it quick, if I were you I'd get to a garage for a check over and have all the boost pipes and vacuum pipes lloked at, then as above look at EGR / Boost Sensor.

    ok, seems like EGR / Boost sensor!

    thinking on, what would be the effect of having topping up the tank with 15 l of unleaded? ~I leant the car to someone, with a full tank and they filled up with 150 miles on the clock. if they put unleaded in it would this be a symptom?

    petrol eats seals and gaskets so i would just take it in to a garage if no joy with cleaning the boost valve/egr

    its a 10 min job to remove it, 3 13mm bolts and 2 allen key bolts at the top/back of the engine on the right, oost snnsor is 1 allen key bolt, its right next to the egr, im in brum, if you fancy a drive down i will do it for you......for free, im good like that

    Rich, undone 3 13mm bolts and 2x allen bolts, what else is there? its now dark! there seems to be a pipe still attaced from below?

    If the spanner light came on then it would log a fault, you need to find out what that fault is. These new diesels get upset over about a million different things nowadays! No point in throwing parts at it blind.
