    confused Cambelt Confusion

Hi Guys, can anyone advise me on when or if the cambelt should be changed on a Signum 20T 2004? Had a few confusing statements for some friends.......ie its a chain so no need to worry.
Its only got 20,000 on clock... what do you think

Most vehicles which use a chain for cambelt usually only specify it be inspected at 100K miles, very rarely is it replaced
What does the VX service specification list?

Not from what I have see on the VX service sheets, every cambelt is listed, even the chains!
The chains will have an inspection interval, which I suspect will be 10 years / 100K miles and a further tension roller replacement interval at about 15 years / 150K miles
There is no way the tension roller will last 20 years / 200K miles, the bearing will most likely have failed by then

I'b believe Benny's advise over any VX tech sheet!

I also like the way you assume the car - or many others will even still be going at 200k. Most rot, become uneconimical to repair or just get scrapped well before then.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

"Lasts the life of the car"
My cars last based on mileage and the point at which I deem them to be uneconomic, usually when a repair bill is 75% of the value
A Vectra could quite easily last to 200K miles; take mine as an example it's 4 years old and already had one cambelt change as per the service requirement (100K miles)
However, as yet I've not had to pay for any service or repair costs, and with the camblet renewal coming in at near £400 it's only likely to get one more
