Default Am I the only 2.8 V6 Turbo owner in the world? Feeling alone? Look in

    Hello all!

Just thought I would start up a new discussion to find out who out there, like me, owns the 2.8 model? I've learnt from these forums, shops, and ebay that it seems to be the 'forgotten about' or 'rare' model...

So about time we all got to see who else out there owns the most fun, M5 eating , growling machine that is the 2.8 V6 Turbo (or VXR for those posh, vibrant coloured folk with the extra 30 brake).

Seems like a good idea to know each other a little better, as technical help, mods, and just plain talk seems to be a little low in the world right now. Cut out the eco warriers , and bring on the petrol heads

Also.. interested in anyone that has got the performance upgrade for the extra BHP that brings the standard version upto that of the VXR? i was quoted £500 but let it slip for a new set of tyres (ironically)

    You are not alone.

In a very very small group where you only get to see the others every now and again, though...

ooooh sent shivers down my spine lol! I am very very tempted!!! However got to repair the header tank now, and after Italy I will definately need some more new tyres (god damn those 19s!!).. plus I need a respray on a bump I got in a car park on my back bumper.. so its going to have to wait

Do you know anyone whos gone through with it? My best friend has an Impreza and I already give him hastle.. I think it would really wind him up with another 50bhp

If they did a manual petrol Signum V6 Elite, then I'd be right there with you. So, V6 diesel for me...

Me too. Had it a couple of months, new habits learned include remembering where all the petrol stations are and surprising BMW drivers on motorways.

There is a few of us about.

Assuming your car is a 2.8 Elite and your running 252bhp(255ps) then all you need for performance is a remap which will take you up around 300bhp with 400lbs of torque.

What I will say though is that if your remapping a non VXR it is essential to get a stiffer suspension setup to handle the power, KW Coilovers or Dap R Springs are the favourites of the VXR owners.

By remapping you will go past a standard VXR 255 or even the upgraded later 280 model VXR in the performance stakes so it is well worth doing

The best dyno result I have had on mine is 308.9bhp/404lbs of torque and that was before I did my exhaust mods.

p.s a standard 255 VXR rips the WRX to shreds, the 280 swallows it whole and then powers on to be very slightly quicker than the 276bhp 2.5 STI, but a remapped 2.8 whether it is VXR or non willleave Subarus STI's feeling silly on the straights oh and you don't really ever need to worry about Hot Hatches as even a Stage 3 Astra VXR is still slightly slower than a Stage 1
    2.8.

Well I must be one of the newest to the VXR folde. Contemplating and EDS remap to 305bhp but have yopu seen their stage two jobby? A shade under £4500 for 380bhp and 560lbft of torky bits

SWMBO would remove parts of my anatomy with rusty barbed wire lol
