    Default Help needed fault code

    been having my spanner light come up as i start car (goes off after a few seconds) vauxhall wanted £89 + vat to read code so bought a op com have plugged in and read codes, this is fault code i get
    P0070 - Ambient Air Temperature Sensor Malfunction
    (74) - Not present

    what is it and how do i cure it, have cleared the code for now
    thanks in advance, by way im in welling kent if any body needs to read trouble code

    I was quoted £11 for the part and half an hours labour from an indy for this replacement which I meant to do last friday but had too many other things on...got a couple of weeks until I can get it in, but indy said not to worry!

    I think the part can be bought for less and at half an hours labour it can't be too difficult an install for anyone confident and competent.

    Does your "outside air temperature" display show the correct temperature?

    Its awfully close at anything over 20C but below that it's almost random. Mines being done as VX have suggested it as a resolution to my glow plug problem, rather than replace the ECU!

    does anyone kow the part number for this as ive just had the same prob.
    is p0070 definatley the outside air temp sensor?
    as mine seems to be reading the outside temp ok.
    also is there a how 2 on how to change it?
    any help would be greatly appreciated

    It's located behind the front bumper. Clipped into the lower front grill.

    had the fault code cleared & its gone for now. guess the sensor is dogey. why the hell should something thats not even related to the engine bring up a fault? Im guessing its VX out to make another quick buck.

    ECU needs to know correct air temp (density of air) in order to meter the fuelling correctly.
