Default 1.8vvt clutch judder dealer problem

I bought a 1.8vvt from Lookers in chester 2 weeks ago.
Al seemed fine on the test drive then i took it 300 miles to Cornwall for a week of camping.
While i was there (fully loaded with camping stuff) i had to reverse up an incline into a parking space and the clutch started to judder quite badly.

I called the dealer up asap on the Monday morning and got it booked it for the following Tuesday.
Anyway, the car has been with them for 2 days and i got a call this morning saying Vauxhall wont cover it under their warranty as its done over 18.5K miles, and also Vauxhall say there is no known problem with clutch judder for this engine, and Lookers aren't prepared to put a new clutch in themselves!

They test drove it in the car park (on the flat) and noticed a 'slight' judder but they say it's fair wear and tear for a 48k mile car!

I told them to test it reversing up a hill but they probably wont.
Whats the point of a car that i cant reverse properly up a slight hill or when it's fully loaded.

    What do you think?
I'm going to call trading standards soon

mmm, suppose thats true, 'wear and tear' would cause the biting point of the clutch to change as the clutch wears away?

So you dont think juddering can be classed as fair wear and tear?
I'm still waiting for a call back from the manager, i need some things to say to him

Put it this way I wouldn't be happy with that sort of mileage, however not knowing the previous makes things more difficult.
My last four cars moved on at 135k or there about on original clutch says it all hth ....

The clutch judder is a well known fault on the VVT, have a search mate, i'd take it back.

    urgent help needed -

update: the manager of the dealers just phoned me, he's prepared to buy a 12 month extended warranty for the car, then for me to come back in a week or so when they can replace the flywheel using the extended warranty scheme.

I see it as his way of getting the car fixed cheaper, but would you accept this?

I'm concerned about whether or not the extended warranty will even cover a flywheel, is there any way i am being conned here do you think?

I thought most extended warranties are a waste of time

As long as its fixed FOC what does it matter? Any warranty is better than none. Look at the link Rushy posted, print a few off and show them!
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

I would be quite happy to have the extended warranty, as this will also cover other things as long as it's Kosher. Could be worth the question what else is coverd hth …..
