Car Advice Needed

So i've been thinking for a while about chaning my Signum, when I bough it It was intended to do long (350+ mile) trips with the family every few months. We've since moved house and kept my car I have so far done barely 5K miles in the last year.
The wife has a megane that we all fit in for weekend trips and the signum is no longer required.
I want something with a bit more go, thats sport dont need to worry about size. My current train of though it to get something ridiculous like a Lexus GS 4.3 V8 or a CLK 430 V8, with the current trend on cars and eco nutters i'm worried if i dont get something with the V8 or a large engine now there is a good chance i'll never have one!
Ideally I want rapid performance of 0-60 of 6-6.5 secs.

I know I can BSR the Signum and hit reasonable performance increase, my worry is that the car still isn't what i need/ want for the long term.

I've been keeping my eye's open for whats about and so far looked at RX8, Saab 9-5 HOT, Audi S3 & TT, A3 3.2, Chrysler Crossfire.

Help Please!!! Any alternative suggestioms for cars upto 6k ish
