We are off in the Vec estate for a blast to Bordeaux & as far south as the sunshines.
It's had a new throttle body, a clean and a 'good talking too'..
and, yes the neighbours think I am completely mad
    Wish us luck
Post & pics when we return

Hope it all goes well John

Something I've not done - driven my car (any of them) on the Continent but it's time I tried it because the thought of flying today with all it's restrictions compared to a few yrs ago puts me off foreign travel. My recent Continental holidays (Geramany & Austria) have all been coach travel.

I'm sure the car will be fine

The wife and I took the Vec-c last year down to Rome, Venice.

Down through France, taking in Switzerland, Austria, and back up through Germany on the return route. Some of the tunnels like the Gotthard are close to 10mile long. The Stelvio pass is a must see,if one's in the area.

We spend quite a few months every year in France, I have to cover up from the sun, but there are some fantastic places to visit, and most of the roads are excellent. ( I love how little noise they make compared with here)

Make sure you take out the Rac Euro cover, or similar, and dont forget to take your EHIC medical cards with you.

They have replaced the old E111 forms.

I love driving over there, roads are far less busy than here, especially once out of the cities, toll motorways, are often almost empty, unless its the Paris ring.

I would recommend anyone to try it, its surprising how quickly you adapt to driving on the right, does'nt bother me which side I drive now.
One tip.. dont carry all your cash on your person, split it up, and hide a few hundred euro'e in your car somewhere for emgergency use, together with photo copies of your documentation. The originals will need to be kept more handy of course. (better safe than sorry)

I wish you a good safe journey matey.

Hello again, thanks for the well wishes and advice.
I forgot the EU health forms but, luckily we didn't need them...
The Vec estate was loaded beyond loaded and went like a dream..I am impressed with a capital 'I' .
It eat the French roads and gave nearly 50mpg, used no oil and was comfortable, secure and felt good.
We went to the Gironde with its 34 degree heat, endless beaches & sun.
Cant wait till next year, I may have to fit a roof rack & top boxes though
