Default I had a few screws loose - Courtesy of Lookers.....

Went out today to get some shopping and a few bits for the baby. As I was going along the motorway, I could hear something flapping underneath the car - as there was a few plastic bags blowing around I thought nothing of it.
When I pulled into the Croft Retail park and went over a speed hump at my normal 5mph there was an almighty crunch and then a scraping noise. Got out of the car, and to my horror, the plastic sump guard was scraping the floor.
After a closer look, I could see that it wasnt just one end or one corner that was loose, it was the whole panel and there were no screws in it at all, so it was being held up by not a lot!
Went into Lookers in Birkenhead, pointed out that they were the last ones to tinker with the car and they had better sort it out.... the old 'You cant prove it was done here' started to come out of the receptionists mouth. I then mentioned trading standards and the keys where whisked from my hands and the car was in the workshop faster than you could say numpty mechanic!
FUll set of new screws and a half hearted apology from the staff.
Wonder what other nuts and bolts they have forgotten to put back on?!?!

The size of the panel could have caused me to crash had it struck a wheel or burst a tyre - and I had my wife and 1 month old baby with me!!!

I've been thinking about this all afternoon, and I'm really hacked off over this.
Just sent an email to Trading Standards over the whole Air Con saga and the fact that they cant even count screws!
Surely anyone would wonder where the few extra screws had come from?!?!

Another horror story from that dealer. I have heard of them not noticing 4 dangerous/illegal tyres on an MOT, and not replacing wheel bolts.

They did the opposite with my wheel bolts - I couldnt shift the stupid things last week!!

I am really wondering about the mentality of the mechanics that work there - I can imagine the idiot scratching his head - 'Now where did I get these screws from?'

Makes me son angry that I could have injured or killed my family or someone else because of them!
