    Default VVT Engine

    Hey all, just wanted to know (silly question really) is my 06 vectra 1.8i exclusive a VVT or not the engine number is Z18XER?

    Yes the XER is the VVT, the z18xe is not.

    Thank you, tried google but kept getting astra's with the engine so wasn't 100%. Do they offer much performance increase over the normal 1.8 16v engines?

    the Z18XE is 123bhp and the Z18XER is 135bhp but many XER's seem to run over that, mine certainly did

    VX blurb for the Insignia 1.8vvt (Z18XER) states 138bhp but I would think it has to be screaming in the high revband to come anywhere close.

    This engine really needs plenty of revs to get the best out of it power wise.

    Yes but its the same with any car tbh, the BHP will be screaming when it reaches its peak but as you can see the Torque is never below 120 lbft between 2500rpm and when it hits the limiter, the torque isn't dumped in high up its a nice constant amount throughout the whole rev range meaning i dont need to rev the crap out of it to get it to pull... BHP is just for bragging

    Can't fault mine either no need to rev that hard pulls nice from low revs that said i have fitted a duel exhaust that does help that said only around 31 mpg not great either oh well!
