Im sure you can come to some arrangement mate, like if he wants to set his alarm to get up at 0550 every morning to shift his car then thats fine with you, however if you need it out in an emergency thats a different matter mate, dont think you can get yellow lines tho.

Think unless there is any lines over the entrance anyone has a right to park there it's just out of courtesy you don't.

I was under the impression that if there was a 'drop kerb' then you could not park infront of it.. But then that could be just me and good old common courtersy..

You could always suggest the buy two smart cars... im sure they take up less space

If the curb has been dropped properly, it will have been at some point in the past, or should have been surveyed and authorised by the council for proper right of access. (rules on this are quite strict, especially since the highways act of 1980, and a payment has to be made to the council for the work)

If the curb has not been officially dropped it will be illegal anyway, (even for you to use it) and you can do nothing.
However, assuming it's been legally dropped, then you have the legal right of access. In which case you can phone the police to have the vehicle obstructing your driveway removed. I did this a couple of times when we lived in Lancashire, where cars were blocking one of our drives for hours at a time.

Found the answer!! If a car is on the drive, or anything with wheels trailer etc then it's illegal to park over a dropped kerb. If there is nothing on there then it's not illegal without the lines. And cars can be towed if they park over the driveway.

In the Highway Code, parking in front of the entrance to a property is a "do not" which means that its not actually law. (These are listed as "You Must Not").

Lowered kerbs mean nothing unless they are those special ones which have been made for users etc. (this is also only a "do not") so there's no legal compulsion for this either.

You can get yellow lines if you have a job which means you could be called out in emergency. I've seen examples of this where doctors and midwives live for example. (This is up to local council to agree).

just park infront of your own drive, he'll soon get the message.

or contact your local highways dept and ask for a hatched area to be put in front of your drive because people keep blocking your access, back this up with photos.
my local council did this for me for about £50 extra after i'd had the kerb dropped, but had to put in writing there was a problem accessing at times.
    good luck.
