An engine oil change should only be carried out when the instrument disply shows.
What does that mean?, the service indicator ( spanner ), why wait, I change mine every year religiously, and I only do about 8k.
Seems odd to me?

I think it is how the car was set up at the factory.Mine "flags" up an annual service ( yearly). But now it is out of warenty I change the oil (Mobil 1) every 10,000 miles.
Mine is 3 years old now, so goodbye stealers ( I still changed the oil between getting thier stamps anyway!)
This is more of an admin and service resetting issue, really only applies on ECOFlex
If you change the oil regularly the EMS can become confused, even if you reset the service interval
The engine then becomes more used to cleaner oil, rather than full life expired oil, so the service interval is artifically low
However, if you are ignoring the service interval indicator then it's not an issue
Are you using GM spec LL oil ???? @ £40.00+ for 5 litres or lower spec semi synthetic and changing it more frequently???
I'm planning to use Planet's GM spec 5W/30 LL oil when mine's due for it's annual service in November as it's a fair bit cheaper than GM's 5W/30 LL...
Yep using the gm stuff from Autovaux, half the price the stealers want for it....

Thanks for info...what are their postal/delivery charges like on 5 litres????
How do you reset the service indicator. Did my service 2 weeks ago now indicator has come on???
