Have a look on this site. www.warehouseexpress.co.uk
They are one of the cheapest around.
I am toying with the idea of getting another DSLR.
I have my eye on a Sony as I have loads of the "old" Minolta stuff and most of it will fit.
Thing is though I am tempted to get another Nikon as I have been very pleased with the D200. But can not make my mind up.
I dare say you will get some very good quality photos from whatever you get. But I would seriously look at either Nikon, Sony or Canon.
I suppose it really boils down to how much you want to spend.

if it means spendin the money for good quality then i'd save to spend it,but am thinkin more along the lines as this would be my first decent one might aswell start low then move my way up.no point spendin hundreds on a camera then pushing it aside .although a dont think that would happen.av seem some good pictures in the galleries etc over near enough the year iv been on this, and it makes me want to go out and give it a bash aswell .av been lookin through ebay and came across the

    NEW NIKON D5000 DIGITAL D-SLR CAMERA KIT 18-55mm VR+8GB

The best bet would be go to a camera shop first, and see which feels right to you.Budget wise, then take it from there. As above the Nikon, Canon and Sony range are all good cameras.I have the Sony A350 and Nikon D300. Jonesy on here has just upgraded from a Sony A100 to a A700. If you need any advice on a particular camera just ask

I've got the Nikon D60, which is a nice starter DSLR for a fair price.

well I would agree with fender, go to your local jessops/currys etc & have a little play, & see which one "feels" right to you.
I have just come across warehouseexpress, come highly recommended (*think* my mate got his G1 from there) but the camera I am looking at is £xp£nsiv£ on that site! so shop around. you can normally find a deal on the sony every now & again, but you have not mentioned price.
I will be going for a "bridge" camera due to price, it will also do the job I want and I dont want to lug loads of kit around, although I suppose it will be too big to fit in my pocket!

I had one of the very first generation digital SLR camera's ages ago, and ended up getting rid due to the issues of dust on the CCD unit back then. It also had a couple of bad pixels on the ccd unit, which was another reason for passing it on.

I've been managing with one of the Cannon Ixmus camera's for the last couple of years, but would like another DSLR myself.

So my question is, have they improved them to the point where dust particles on the internal ccd is no longer a issue. ? I've seen mentioned that some of them now have a built-in cleansing mechanism.?

Try www.camerapricebuster.co.uk for the best price once you have decided on the camera.

www.dpreview.com has loads of advice on camera gear and a good forum for each specific camera.

I've had canon 400d, D40 and now D90. All do pretty much the same it's personal preference...... But I like my Nikon
