Default Finally got the rocks to hack my headlining up for a giggle...

As title. I'd been looking for the Vauxhall DVD unit to fit in the back for the ankle biters and was struggling to find one. But thanks to Rushy being the starman he is he put me in touch with what appears to be one of the last two out there..

So after plucking the courage to mark and cut out my headlining I set about it..

Measured and marked where to start..

    Handy stick on template..

Beyond the point of no return..

Big ass hole in my roof!

The worst bit by a country mile was threading the wires through from the back of the car to the middle of the roof. I had to make a long thin rod out of a couple of wire coathangers and tape the plug to the end and gently ease it through without damaging anything or putting a chuffing great ridge down the roof of my car..

Didn't take any picture as I was busy!

    Clean with degreaser wipe..

Stuck this on after some warming up with hair dryer..

Spaced the headlining out to mate up with DVD surround...

    Bolted it in..

    Slotted the player into place...

    Thought "That looks groovey"..

    Earthed it to here..

Piggy backed to here. Rear right eleccy window which I thought would be switched live but alas it aint so I'll swap that about later..

Yeah it aint got Divx or usb or all the other goodies that are standard these days but it's Vauxhall and does this when you switch it on so there....

Last of all this screen shot because stuff what anyone else says today in the eyes of my kids I AM a legend

Excellent mate, job well done I'd say, I can certainly imagine the worst part was cutting that headlining, as you rightly put it 'Point of no return' !!

Glad I could help mate Looks spot on. For an ignition live try F17, its what I use for my none XV screen, should be the same but mine is a hatch.

About an hour. But had to find somewhere that sold the little fuses vauxhall uses these days so add an extra 30 mins for that

Actually it wasn't that bad I just took my time and double checked the measurements supplied by Vauxhall. The worst part was after that threading the wires and thinking "I'm never going to get that chuffing wire through there!" That was the hardest and most stressful as I didn't want to crease the headlining..
