I ordered a very small spare part from my local Dealer a week ago. Phone call to-day advising me it's in. I call by this afternoon & park up, by the time I reach the department desk the part is ready with my reciept made out in my name. How does that make me feel I must say I have a very high regard for this dealer. How much did I spend £1.58 incl vat .....

Sounds like your've been visiting your dealer often. Are you more than just friends?

Think I know what you mean though matey, my own dealer is starting to remember my name whenever I go in lately, can't imagine why.

Customer service is the most important to me, and small touches like that make me feel great and worthwhile. Im more likely to spend more somewhere like that then shop around tbh.

some of the lexus garages in japan have auto number plate readers
as you arrive it scans your plates and when you enter the dealership you are greeted by name, thats if you decide to get out of your car ........

A few years ago I was in on the dancefloor of a nightclub with some mates, when I had this tap on the shoulder (I thought I'd pulled). As I turned around, this voice said "How's the Vectra Mr Swaite53?" - it was only the service guy from my local VX dealer, who was stood there grinning at me. I was amazed he recognised who I was, out of context!

I get the same sort of service from both the parts departments of the 2 Vauxhall dealers in Southampton. You cant beat customer service IMO
