    Default Which springs?

Ok, car failed its MOT today due to 2 broken front springs & 1 broken rear.

I dont think i will be getting replacements from Vauxhall as they want £177 for the fronts & £155 for the rears! Couple that with being quoted £230 to fit them at the MOT place, im not keen, so will do them myself if poss.

So, my question is ok, wot do i go for? Eibachs, Apex, Supersport or Spax? All 4 sold by LMF, ranging from £110 for the Apex or Supersport, to £158 for a set of 4 Eibachs.

Id be interested to know everyones thoughts.

only a lowly 1.8 LS, but done a few changes recently, Opel grille, smoked tip rear lights, silvered front indicator bulbs, debadged rear, airbox mod, shorter intake & the 7 spoke 17" alloys (double spoke variety, care of my neighbour), there are some pics on another post of mine on here somewhere.

as for the springs, im erring on the Eibach side, heard of Spax, but not the other 2 makes. Plus everyone raves about Eibach on here!

I fitted pi 30mm from pi cost £98 delivered! my motor is a 1.8 sxi on 17s, the ride is firm but not hard and the handling is far better than the standard springs, must admit wished I`d gone for the 35mm for the extra £15, sods law but I am pleased with the springs

well, i have tried but failed to get a set of Eibach's, everywhere i tried has them on back order of about 10 days! What a surprise!!!

Anyway, found a place that could do me a set of Koni springs for £132 including next day delivery. Now all that remains to happen is fit them & have all you nice people out there in Vectraland tell me how rubbish they are. But i want the car back on the road & lowered a bit, so Koni it has to be. At least they are a well known make.

Now all i have to do is follow the 'How2's' to remove the old ones & fit the new ones, oh joy!

i honestly cant believe that you can get a full set of brand new lowering springs for just over a 1/3 of what Vauxhall want for the bog standard ones, which we all know break! I know i wouldnt be buying the genuine Vauxhall ones after this experience & would advise anyone else likewise!
