Default Just had my DMF replaced in ££££ shocker!!!!

Well, it had to happen. I knew the thrust bearing was on its way out, the clutch was a like something from Ann Summers it vibrated so much, so it took the plunge to get it sorted.........

........naturally, the DMF was ******ed as well, (although to be fair, this happens to Mondeos and lots of other cars as well - i blame cheap undurable parts being mated to massive pressurised turbo diesel engines lol)

Anyways, after reading some total horror stories on pricing the last few months on here, i expected the worst.....

Ok, so it took a day and a half, (had to wait for the DMF to be delivered), but at £740 all in - new DMF, thrust bearing and clutch kit - i thought it was a lot better than some of the £1k+ pricing i've seen on here. Don't get me wrong it's ridicluous expense, but i was fearing a lot more!! And the car now runs like i've never felt it before. Massive accellaration power and overtaking. Plus smoother and quieter - i saw the offending old parts, the DMF was totally ******ed, looked like a shambles!

Anyways, just thought i'd share this - seen lots of stuff on here about them :-)

I find one more thing to like about the car every day - still an awesome driving machine...

oh believe me it is. can't belive how smooth these Saab diesel engines are, (guy at the garage commented straight away when it was up on the hoist ha ha). Amazing refinement at 100mph on the m-way today with the cruise on. If i did that in the Mondeo i'd have been done for public noise disorder!!!

Expense was unwelcome, but the retuen to form is most welcome indeed!

It had done 82884 when i dropped it off. Phil is an awesome garage owner/repair dude and knows his stuff big time being an independant.
He basically said it's not down to a common fault, it's just simply major wear and tear. My car is an ex fleet vehicle so the 80mph stop. 80mph stop. 80mh stop just took it's toll on the flywheel. And he blamed the previous, (one and only) owner of being a crap driver as he reckoned he'd been engine braking, riding and dipping the clutch all the over the place. The outer cogs of the flywheel had less bite than a gummy bear, this is how he could tell, (apparantly!).

Still, happy with the price and car is just a joy to run at the moment. Plus my fuel economy is back! Thank god...

I imagine it would more likely be the company car drivers ragging the **** out of it. I know how we treated our company cars for the duration and especially the last 2 weeks before we handed them back. The only way round a roundabout was sideways, the tyres were evil and needed punished
