My dads vectra has been having problems as of lately, the engine management light has been coming on alot, the car has become a dog to drive, hesitating alot, especially noticable when you give her the boot.
We took her to a man in Fintona who has a Tech2, he couldnt tell us the problem.
Then in desperation dad took her to the vaux garage in omagh, they said it was a oxygen sensor, and they'd have to order one. He went back and they put on a different sensor 'by accident' and billed him for it. He luckily checked and took it back to them pointing out that they'd changed the wrong one. They told him to come back again.
So yesterday he left her up again, a few hours later i got the phone call to come lift him, the guys at vaux had no idea what was wrong with her, the sensor hadn't fixed it.
This evening the guy at vaux phoned dad and said that he has two choices, leave her as she is (runnign badly) or pay another £400 for an ECU and remove the gas components and leave her only running petrol. Apparently the gas controlling unit had burnt out the ECU and so the guy wasn't willing to risk connecting it again.
I been looking on ebay and seen a few ECU's, would it be possible to buy the ECU, ignition barrel, drivers door lock and keys and replace them? or does it have to be coded in with Tech2?
Of course any other suggestions/ideas are welcome, though the vaux garage have had her for about two days now and are still stuck.
