Unhappy Please need some help on TID to GID conversion on 04 VectraC

    Gents,

I am a new member and would really appreciate if you can help me with the following query. I have a VectraC CDTI (150PS) bought in 2004 from new and would like to fit a GID with BC functionality as well. The car came with a TID and ccr2006.

I want to keep the ccr2006 and replace the TID with GID.
    Now, here is the story.

In 2006 from Kirkby Merseyside, I bought a cdc40 opera radio with its display and the whole front wire loom from the car that those came from.
As I realised that the cdc40 at the moment cannot be fitted to a "half can bus" car I am happy to do the display swap only hopefully, adding the BC functionality.

Please believe me I have read loads of info and posts and apply already the 18 to 32 pin conversion and so on but the display is not even lighting up. Now I have the following queries which I would appreciate your help and feedback.

    1. Does the radio need to be in for the display to work? Believe me it was a mission to remove the ccr2006 from it's cage. Even when removed the TID was displaying the time, date and temperature so I was expecting the GID to work as well before reinserting the radio. Nothing shown at the moment.

    2. Now I have followed the NCDC2013 Swap instructions from Bigmac and read the German site equivalent http://www.put-schelper.de/bc.html
but to no effect, however I need to understand the following:

    A. The display is Siemens VDO (IDENT DD) 24461295 and it looks like this is BID (Board Information Display) rather a GID which I discover after but I am not sure. Is that true? It has the same 32 pin connector at the back. Is it really that different from the GID?

    B. Is there a connection diagram for BID, like the ones posted in the NCDC2013 Swap?

    C. If I would need to buy a GID how would I know which is GID, or BIB? For CID I know it has 2 connectors at the back. For GID is it DA, DC?
I have a Vauxhall print with the display description and for DD states UNIT, DISPLAY, MULTI_FUNCTION INDICATOR, GRAPHIC INFO-MONOCHROMATIC. Is that not a GID?

I am really stuck and don't know what else to do with cables hanging off in my dashboard and friends are asking me what on earth is going on? Did someone break in?

Much obliged and thanks in advance.

    hi m8
by the sound of it m8 you have the wrong gid,
you need a GID from a 2002 -early2004(bigmac's thread has the indent codes)
but the display you got should still display something like "SAFE".
have you wired the 32pin plug correctly.

    hope this helps

    Hi Mark,

I am possitive that I have wired the plug correctly.
Double checked and compare it with BigMac's too. However, his tables have descriptions for a GID but do not say which type.

There are so many, SD, DB, DC, AY, DA. Mine is a DD. I think the display may be wrong type but do not know how to confirm it's compatibility.

    Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

I also have the same display here as you DD with the same code, blue plug, it came along with a cdc40 dated 2004.

If you need any schematics let me know

Also if you have a loom from the cdc40 you might be able to help me out as I'm missing the plugs from the DAB box to the headunit

    cheers Ronnie

    hi
if the gid you got come from the cdc40 then its the wrong one and will not work on yours.
it needs to be from a veccy from 2002 - early 2004 with the codes from bigmac's thread
    (SD DB DC AY DA)

    Gents,

Thanks for all the info so far.

    Ronnie,

Thanks for the offering. If you have the schematics for the display that will be great. I think the power pins on a GID, which are are 5 and 31 are totally different to the BID. Perhaps you can forward me the details on my yahoo: athanak_2000@yahoo.com. I may attempt to wire it and give it a go? Do you think is worthwhile? Does yours is for a full can Vectra? Have you done such conversion? What stereo did you car had in before you decided to change it to cdc40. That was my plan too however, can't see if I can make it work as my is with the old wire looms.

Thanks also to mhvcbv. I think it will be faster to see if I can get a GID then with the codes described.

    Cheers

The pin out for the 2004 onward gid is different...try looking at my thread for fitting a cd70 into a non can vehicle..my 1994 cavalier as it happens...check the thread as I give the pin outs for gid and cid.

Following pm from Athanak, it should be confirmed that screen code DD is indeed correct for CDC40 and all the 54 plate onward vehicles. (I have a DD monochrome GID on my Cavalier's CD70).
In that case the wiring diagram from Bigmac is wrong as it is for the "older style" units ncdr etc as used on vehicles with half-canbus wiring.

CD30, CDC40, CD50 and CD70 are ALL Full Canbus radios....these radios have no ignition live so don't bother looking for a black, except for use with DAB, Telephone, Travel Assistant or rear mounted head-unit.
These full can radios can be fitted to older (pre 04) half can vehicles, but you may probably lose ignition logic or something like that. Just need to re-jig your wires.

    Default Dd display pinout

NOT SAYING THAT IT WILL WORK, HOWEVER THE WIRES FOR THE DD GID DISPLAY ARE AS FOLLOWS: -

CCR COLUMNS ARE FOR THE HALF CANBUS HEAD UNITS *** No guarantee that these will work
CD COLUMNS ARE FOR CDC40 AND CD70 HEAD UNITS
