    Default New GSI Owner

    Hi All,

I picked up a 2004 Vectra 3.2 GSI at the weekend and it has exceeded all my expectations. Its in near perfect condition especially as its old enough to be at first school!

It has done 64k and been well looked after and fully serviced. The engine runs smooth and quiet, I dont think its been treated to badly in its past life! I assume I would need to get the CAM BELT looked at soon? Is there any way of knowing if it has been done already?

Anything else I should be concerned about/checking/listening out for??

    Thanks

    Paul McGuire

My rule of thumb when it comes to cambelts is.. if i cant find any paperwork for it, i class it as needing to be done.... Ive had 2 cambelts go on me now... and one of those was supposed to have been changed... it wasnt.

I assume its not been done. And I think at 5 years they are in need of change whatever the mileage right? As I am still 20k away from the suggested change mileage.

I just spoke to Vauxhall Dealership and they told me I should be fine for the time being - its every 8 years or 80k whichever is sooner... I am now not sure what to do. Maybe wait until the new year and get it done to be safe... or shall I trust Vauxhall and leave it until the specified age/mileage?

Not always best to trust Vauxhall mate. Leave it a little while longer but don't let it get right up to the limit

Thanks, I was thinking the same. I will get it done after Christmas as I will be nearing 68k by then.
