    Default Coolant loss

Hi guys what in your humble opinion are the main reasons for coolant loss?

    The facts
    1) lose more when on longer journeys
    2) no apparant sign of leaks
    3) Temperature gauge reading normal
    4) Only indication of anything wrong is the radiator symbol
    5) Used the supposedly more potent version of radweld and that hasn't worked either (totally lost now)

Have booked it in to the garage for a pressure test sems its the only way to go I am dreading it

    Thanks in advance boys

Was losing coolant but there was a tell tale residue on the seam of the coolant header tank. New tank sorted problem, only £17 from the dealers which included the level switch. Don't know if tank splitting on the seam is a common problem with the vectra.

It could be the header tank cap. They have a habbit not sealing the system very well.

I find my local dealer doesn't tighten it up properly after a service, which causes the coolant to evaporate. Make sure the cap is completely tight.

If I forget to re-tighten it after a service, mine will loses coolant, but is fine if I tighten it.

I'm in the same situation as you mate. My V6DTi has lost some coolant in 3 months, about a cm under the marking I made in April. No apparent leaks on the driveway, but I haven't seen the coolant light on so far. Temperature guage is reading normal.

    I'm totally lost
