my new second car

as some might know ive been looking for a second car for last couple of weeks preferably vectra b estate, lo and behold ive just bought a ........................rover 416ls! feel free to mock cos i think i got a bargain .its a 1998 s plater with67.000 miles, full unmarked leather interior,elec sunroof,windows, mirrors,pas etc .the bodywork (british racing green) is virtually unmarked there is history also with the car.the guy was looking for £1175 with a years ticket but he settled for 900 ,its still motd for a month so ive got time to sort it. ilooked at numerous vectras and even an astra estate and they all had various faults and rough bodys engines etc so i went to see the rover as a spur of the moment thingy and the rest as they say is history, anyway im gauging interest/p155 taking before i post any piccies of the beast!

I've had a number of Rovers/MGs in the past (including a 416). Never had a single problem with any of them. They'll be no mocking from me. Sounds like a good bargain.

I had an MG before the Vec, never had a major problem, but all minors were rectified under warranty with no probs (unlike vx!)

the wee car drives sweet as a nut but im getting the timing belt and water pump done at the weekend just for piece of mind, and waiting for insurance docs to come through so i can get it taxed and fully road legal

Good call on the water pump, but check the oil and water weekly, my wifes old one started using a bit of water, didn't realise why until it was too late! You guessed it, Head gasket. Other than that, the thing was superb.

My missus has got a R reg 420i. Was my old company car - so we had it since new. Never had any major problems with it. A bit old to drive now, especially compared to the Vec (makes you realise how good the Vec is!), but still goes fine!!
