    Default twin exhausts

hi folks, was toying with the idea of replacing my twin pipes with an aftermarket jobbie. i have the dual boxes already (z22yh) but just fancied a change

should i change them or is it a wee bit too " boy racer "

would a cat back system reduce back pressure therefore reducing torque

any opinions would be greatly welcomed

go on mate, do it, I changed my single exit exhaust on my 1.8 to a twin exit with 6x4 pipes with the VXR insert. Realy improved the look and sound of the car.

cheers guys, what about the performance end of things?

i know im probably not going to gain anything with a cat back system but have read things about the reduced back pressure affecting the torque, any comments on this??

Never heard anyone complain of power problems, if anything a free flowing exhaust will help the cars performance. If its a custom exhaust you are going to fit then the fitters will recommend whats best and ask you what you want from the system i.e loud or quiet etc. hth

Hi mate, the ideal bore size for the 2.2's can be found on the 2.2 forum. Yes there are specific sizes that work and yes you can go too big on the 2.2. Off hand I cant remember the correct sizes, think it might be 2.5 inches then reduces down to 2inch after the y section, it could even be half inch bigger on each, but again I cant remember off hand. HTH mate.

    Does this look chavvy?
Mate looks the dogs, IMO, sounds good as well

I mangaged too scource sowm at a breakers, not sure what veccy they were off, think it was a 3.2 V6 but fitted perfect, apart from having to sleeve where it joined due to the bore sizes being different , but it was only by a few mill.
