Well... trip to france for the day, did it last year in Sept, and just checked out the cost, its £25 return for 1 person including their car

Le touquet is nice and not too far.

The French supermarket in Calais is best for booze but it's going to more expensive than here probably. Best to buy some bread and cheese so you can make a sandwich whilst waiting at port.

I did it last year, got the boat from dover to calais, did some beer shopping, wine shopping, some ciggie shopping, got something to eat, then some clothes shopping

Left at 5am, got the 7 am ferry, if you book your return say about 1900, and you have had enough, they put you on an earlier boat

Edit: And you get a full english on the boat

I use to visit a customer in Belgium and the ciggies were cheaper there.

Trouble is the Euro is way up against the Pound now so there's probably no saving to be made over a UK supermarket. Nice day out though!
