So then guys, whats the difference in them both apart from over £100? I thought they'd stopped selling the 40G version last year?

Sorry if I don't reply, I'm supposed to be working, will reply tonight.

    Cheers, Steve.

Think the 80g has memory cards slots iirc but i have the 40g version and disparately need a bigger hard drive as its full so might try and buy a 80g one or bigger so if your looking for one get one with a bigger HD

according to Sony's SCEE Press site only the 60gb exists in the UK, which is strange, But it does list this info..

The major difference being backwards compatability of the systems. The 60GB is the better one...

    Hard Drive: 40GB
    USB Ports: 2
    Colors: Black, White(Asia Only)
    Wi-Fi: Yes
    Flash Card Reader: No
    Chrome Trim: Yes
    SACD Playback: No
    PS2 Compatibility: 0%

    Hard Drive: 60GB
    USB Ports: 4
    Colors: Black
    Wi-Fi: Yes
    Flash Card Readers: Yes
    Chrome Trim: Yes
    SACD Playback: Yes
    PS2 Playback: 98%

    Hard Drive: 80GB
    USB Ports: 4
    Colors: Black
    Wi-Fi: Yes
    Flash Card Reader: Yes
    Chrome Trim: Yes
    SACD Playback: Yes
    PS2 Playback: 70-80%

They can all play PS1 games though. Also, the 80GB and 40GB versions produce less heat from its CPU.

I'm not sure, that info came direct from Sony's Press site, so i pressume its correct..

Looking at that list the 40gb is the one to avoid if you want to play older games and use a flash card..

Cheers for the info guys. Looks like the 40G's the one for me. The Mrs already knows the price of the 80G so there's no getting away from it LOL. Incidentally Pete, on my travels all I've come across is the 80G version. Then I tripped across a price card for the 40G, on enquiry they said there going to be in store Wednesday. Would have got a 360 by now but no GT5 and that's the clincher for me.
