Default Steering Cowl trim Removal ?

Does anyone know how the 2 pieces of plastic trim cowling which goes round under the steering wheel and covers the ignition comes off.

Mine's actually a Insignia and only has one screw underneath, I believe the vec had a couple on the top followed by 2 blank inserts, but the way they clip together will I'm sure be pretty much the same. Which is why I did'nt post it in the Insignia section.

It's taken me some time, but I've managed to eliminate all the odd creaks I was getting from the centre console on my Insignia, especially when going round bends.

I'm now left with just a slight occasional creak from the area of that steering wheel cowling, but, though I had the same issue on the Vec I never did manage to split them and remove it, same problem I have with this one.

I'm sure its just a simple case of them clipping together someway, but it seems reluctant to come apart.

Anyone know how to remove them.? How do they clip together.?

    Default

Try turning the steering wheel 90 degrees to the right from straight ahead position and you should see a small blanking cap , pull this off and hopefully you'll see the screw to remove, after removal turn the wheel 90 degrees to left from centre position and the other blanking cap / screw should be revealed , then remove the lower one/ ones and you should be able to prise the covers apart , at least this is the procedure for the vectra, the ignition cover prises pulls off with a bit of effort. hope it helps.
    Cheers Pete
