Question Addition of 2 stroke oil and/or other additives to diesel engine (all diesels)...

After some advice from one of this forum members I did some research and I have recently found many forums about adding 2 stroke oil to diesel fuel in proportion of 1:200. I have started doing it myself but only recently. The engine is noticeably quieter but my mpg is about the same.

I would like to know your opinions.

Also are there many of you adding 2 stroke oil to diesel and if yes what do you think? What are your experiences?

OK now I have done 4500 miles adding two stroke oil to diesel.
I pour 200ml of 2T oil per full 50-55 litres tank of diesel.

    Current results:

    1. Average MPG is now between 48-52, where before I had around 45-49 (city driving around 30%, coutry roads about 20% and motroway 50% of all driving),
    2. After leaving the city and accelerating on motorway I used to sometimes get a lot of smoke behind, now this is not happening which means that my injectors are clean,
    3. Engine is noticeably quieter,
    4. No change to acceleration.

I am on older 2.2DTI engine and it works very well for me. Not sure whether this would be any good for CDTI's.

    Hi Luke52

2 Stroke is about £8 a litre, so that fuel consumption change probably isn't worth the costs, but I suppose if it runs better then maybe it is?

Millers diesel sport 4 is about 12 quid but you only put in 1ml for every litre of diesel. Think it works out at about 200 litres of diesel per bottle

It's great stuff, my 2.2dti got 141bhp on the rolling road, just with a K&N and running the millers. Fuel economy on a long run is about 50 mpg too

HI John, just wondering... the 141bhp was that with or without the Steinbauer tuning box bud?
