    Default Sticking relay?

Had this funny clicking noise appear from behind the glovebox area. It started yesterday when I unlock the doors after its been stood a while. The sound is like a sticking relay.

Then on my way to work this morning ive found that if I press the recirculate button on the climate control it makes another duller clicking noise continuously until I switch it off, followed by a ten second burst of my relay clicking noise.

Anyone else had this fault? Its going to go back to the dealers I think.

Blooming heck…. Just rang the dealers and it’s a 3 week wait for a courtesy car. I need one and as the fault isn’t a major one, ive gone ahead with the booking. While I was on, she gave me the hard sell on cleaning out my air con system… “now that its summer people are starting to use their aircon and it can be full of bacteria and smell…” I stopped her there and said that I have mine on all the time as ive set it on the climate control by default. “what, even in winter?”…. “yes, even in winter, I have it on all the time as that’s whats recommended”…… “oh… well if you want it doing anyway its £99 but we do repressureise the system for you”…… “I’ll pass thanks because if theres anything wrong wit my aircon, the network Q warranty better sort it”.

I kinda agree, i think people assume Aircon means living in a fridge, which isnt true. It conditions the air whatever the temp. having it running all the time stops side windows misting up too, not to mention keeping the aircon creepy crawlys at bay.

Maybe it's the motors that control the recirculation flap or the air mixers? Mine make a funny rattling noise when you change the temperature, though the noise stops after a second or two.

    Thanks.
Seems to fit with the fact that the problem is intermittent.
So these things are activitated without the ignition being on and when the doors are unlocked or opened?
Please note that the car is under warranty but I have been unable to reproduce the fault for the dealer.
Any suggestions as to how I can force the symptom to appear?

Do you hear it when the weather is cold and you have the CC on hot?

I had what sounds like a cricket in my CC last year, it disappeared and now has come back ... just as the air vents are blowing cold air out.. I think it must be some sort f thin bit of plastic getting cold and resonating.

Let us know what the dealer thinks and more importantly whether they can replicate the noise /fault
