    Default sat nav and phone

    hi guys.

as mentioned in a previous post i recently purchased a 52 plate 3.2 GSi vectra but i am having problems with my satnav and phone

when i press the nav button, it asks for disc, but when i insert it, it just spits it back out

as for the phone, it reads my sim card etc but i dont have any sound :/

any idea on how to go about fixing these 2 problems and how much it may cost?

    thanks guys

    Hi and
First of all is the disc an original navi disk and is it the right one for your NCDC2015 ?
Secondly i would make sure your connectors are all plugged in at the back of both stereo and Telematic kit once you have done this retry your phone making sure the sim card is facing upwards (chip facing up)and i know it my sound stupid but make sure your stereo is turned up as the telematic uses the stereo volume buttons

    hey mate, thanks for reply

Yes the disc is the original and correct disc but it is highly scratched so im wondering if that is the fault? (although in previous thread it was said that it was probably not the disc, and infact was the sat nav that was faulty)

And for the phone. I haven't checked all the connectors as of yet but will deffinately be sure to now. The phone picks up my sim card, selects the right network (BT cellnet, which is old name for O2 aint it) and has full signal but when i make a call there is no volume. I also tried to select a ringer tone and i cannot hear any of them (and no it isnt muted hehe). I also trired turning stereo volume up full whilst on phone but still nothing . Seems like the phone actually fully works but no volume being sent lol

I don't know much about the earlier head units, but as a simple query, is it possible that the volume settings for aux in / ext in may be set to 0 (zero).

On the CDxx head units, there is an audio settings menu where you can set the various volume levels for sat-nav announcements, start-up volume, speed dependent volume control and aux-in.

As I said above, I dont know if this menu is on the cdr, cdcr etc (pre 2004 head units).

Regarding the disc...see if another member is within meeting distance, and see if you can try his / her disc...if the nav works then its your disc...if the nav still fails then it could either be a dirty laser pick-up or faulty drive mechanism.

Another thought...albeit a really silly simple one...
You have got the speaker in the middle of the dash between the screen air vents??

The phone does not use the main speakers, just the centre dash one.
    The panel just lifts out....

p.s. as a point of interest, I don't have a phone, but my after-market sat nav aerial sits in this hole...it has line of sight for the satellites.
