Really, that affects it too, I thought the more you use it the faster it will run out. I do use it in the winter times as well for about 5 minutes to demist the windscreen. The weather hasn't been nice lately in order to use it.

The system also has a certain amount of oil in it. This helps to lubricate the rubber seals and stop them from drying out.

The AC can be used in conjunction with the heater. It can be used any time of the year, come summer or winter. Car's with climate control use the heater to maintain a fixed temperature dialed into the digital display.
If you put the heater and AC on, you'll find the windows will demist a lot quicker than 5 mins.

A lot of people make the mistake that AC is for use in the summer only to keep cool, whereas in fact it's a useful system all year round if used properly.

Thanks, I did not know all that, but I tend not to use the air con as much because it uses up more fuel, and the fuel prices aren't cheap. What happens if I don't use it as much as I should do, would it cause much damage to the air con system or will it just need regased more often.

ac is a servicble item - needs a service every two years according to the dealers - if its not used on a regular basis then the seals can dry out as the lubricants are not being circulated and then the gas escapes

run your ac for at least 10 minutes EVERY week even if its cold - just turn the heat on

the amount of fuel it uses is marginal - running your car with the window open will create additional drag and the difference in costs would probably be £1.00 for a tank of fuel

maybe you should now change your name from hothatch to coolhatch
