Default K&N Panel Filter for CDTI 150

Im looking at fitting one of these to my dad's CDTI 150.

Will it cause any issues, spanner light, EML, etc?

I have one in my Vec-B SRI DTI and notice that it rev's smoother, I just dont want it to anything up on my dad's car as the fix is likely to be more expensive!

Also, has anybody got one fitted already, if so, what difference have you noticed?

    Thanks.

You should not have any issues from the panel filter new out of the box. Watch if you are cleaning it in future not to over oil as this can cause MAF issues. I did not notice one hoot of a difference to the performance when I fitted mine. The only difference I noticed that the turbo spool up seemed louder.

Is that an issue? Or potential future risk?

Personally, I think they are a waste of time. I bought one for mine just to see for myself what the difference would be, ran it for a thousand miles and then put the original new paper filter back and did not notice any difference at all. For the £50 cost, you'd be better spending that on the difference in Shell V-Power or BP Ultimate.

I kind of see where you are going with this....but is a thousand miles enough to definately pick up the long-term benfits?

Ive had one in my Vec-B for about 3k miles now and I have noticed smoother revving and I didnt actually know this until 3 days ago, but the MPG around town has gone from averaging 35-36'ish to nearer 39-40....?

Just look at the difference between a K&N and a normal paper filter, air will flow much easier through the K&N and allow the engine to breathe better. I understand this allows for more efficient fuel burn or something. However if it does give an extra 1 or 2bhp then I guess fuel economy would go down slightly too especially if you use them.

If you are in there putting in a new K&N I would also do the airbox mod as well (if you haven't already) to help the airflow even more.
