......and you paid them £35 They should have looked it as a matter of courtesy to you and then told you to go back to F.O.W. So what is causing the tyres to wear on the inner edges? Did they investigate that. Methinks they are talking b0llocks to be honest m8.

Uneven tyre wear on the inside of the rear tyres is a common fault on Vectra C (Pre-facelift) and Signum. they give the exact same noise as a wheel bearing going.

Both my Vectra B's did it and my previous Vectra C 1.9 CDTi did it at 17000 miles. Can't comment on my current one as it has only done 4300 miles. I had to have the camber changed so the wheels at the top came out as far as possible but within the given tolerances.

Not alot else you can do I'l afraid.

Did the camber change help with your Vectra C or can I expect to have to face this every 17,000 miles or so?

FOW have agreed to pay for both rear tyres to be replaced, I'm expecting someone from Kwik Fit Mobile to come and do it today.

If it doesn't resolve the droning noise I'll be having a quiet word with the dealer tomorrow and shaking them warmly by the throat Still, the cost is minimal so far...

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY VEC -C...IT WENT IN AT 40,000 MILES FOR REAR PADS....I ASKED THEM TO CHECK OUT A DRONING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR.WHEN I PICKED THE CAR UP,THEY TOLD ME THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS & IT WAS MY IMAGINATION....I WENT HOME & SWAPPED THE FRONTS WITH THE REARS....HOLY S- - t....THE CAR WOULDNT EVEN STEER....I WENT OFF TO MY LOCAL TYRE DEALER..HE CHECKED THEM OUT & ADVISED THAT I DIDN`T DRIVE THE CAR UNTIL THEY WERE CHANGED.......WELL SPOTTED VX!..

It did appear to solve the problem, I fitted 17" wheels to the car (2nd hand with 4mm) back in September 2005 and did about 22,000 miles on them and they were OK, my brother now has the car and had all the tyres changed but the rears looked as if the wear was pretty even.

Cheers for that. I'll look into it once the tyres have been changed. Did you get the camber change done at the dealer or at a tyre place?

Kwik Fit Mobile just called to arrange, it looks as if they are not quite mobile enough to get from Coventry to Rugby (about 13 miles) so they're doing it Saturday morning instead.
