Default water coming out of resovoir like a geaser

Every time i stop the car and switch off the engine water blows out of the resovoir, its fine when running even on tickover and the temp gauge is stable no sign of over heating. Ive changed the water pump, radiater and thermostat but due to being put on short time at work have now run out of dollars , i'm thinking of dusting of the old tool box and taking the cylinder head off to check the condition of the head and gasket, does anyone have any idea's as to what could be causing this problem before i take off the cylinder head. chears Ade

Where does the water level sit when cold? Is it at the marked level on the container?

Any signs of water in the oil? (take off oil filler cap and is there any white mess)

Any signs of oil in the water container?

Is there antifreeze in the water?

Does the rad fan come on when it gets too hot?

    hi thanks for your reply,
there is no sign of any contamination in the oil or the water and no white in or around the oil filler cap, I top it up to the fill line when cold with summer coolant, then after it blows there is normaly about one inch of water left in the header tank, the fan does come on when it gets too hot.
    cheers Ade.

Well thats me confused, maybe an air lock somewhere. Does the heater work?
Might be worth giving it a run/thrash with the heater full on and see if that clears it

    ade,

Fill the system by slowly pouring the coolant into expansion tank until it is up to filler neck.

Using a small screwdriver ,lift up the wire clip securing the left hand heater hose to the heater matrix pipe stub, and disconect the hose from the stub.

Additionally,on 1.9 ltr engines, open the bleed screw in the coolant pipe above the exhaust manifold.

As soon as coolant begines to run from the heater matrix, push the sucuring wire clip back into position on the heater hose end fitting ,then push the hose back onto the matrix pipe stub.

Ensure that the wire clip securly locks the hose in position.

close the coolant pipe bleed screw as soon as coolant emerges.

    as per the manual

    hope this helps

    regards
