    Default Insignia.........

A bit of an info update.

2.7 and 2.9 V6 CDTi - Dropped for good, this engine programme has been canceled as they did not see much of a benefit over the Bi Turbo diesel.

2.0 Bi Turbo Diesel 190 - Arrives quarter 4 this year, avaialable with 4x4 on SRi and Elite only.

    Was lookin forward to that

Still a 2.0CDTI twin turbo is not to be sniffed at

Glad it has been coupled to a 4WD system.

I take it the 1.9s are finished?

    The 2.0 130 and 160 have replaced the 1.9 120 and 150.

After talking to someone I know in Vauxhall, the Bi Turbo 2.0 is almost unimpressive to drive, just very very smooth, if anything it has been described as driving a normally aspirated V6, it's that smooth and uneventfull, but apparently a re-map will give you that 'boosted feel'

FWD will be available on the Bi Turbo as well as 4x4, but it will have dual exit exhaust's like the petrol turbo and not single like the 130 and 160.

The Bi Turbo will also have Flexride as standard.

The other phylosophy that Opel/Vauxhall are working on is the way the turbo engines perform, the plan is to have all turbocharged engines feel like larger capacity engines without the boost of a turbo but very smooth. Almost like you would'nt know it's a turbo.

Personally I like the feel of a turbo car. Whats your thoughts?

How much will it cost? If it's at the upper end of Insignia pricing, over £30k, will it compete with larger-engined cars in this sector? E.g. three-litre diesel BMWs and the like.
