Eek HELP!!! Engine Management Light has come on

    Hi guys

I know this is a silly question, but what causes the engine management light to come on?

The car seems to be running fine...

    Please Help!

Note, the DIY fault code trick doesn't work on all Vectras.

You should really get the code(s) read one way or another so you know what the problem (if there is one) may be, but if you don't wish to, you could try disconnecting the battery for 10 mins. This will clear any stored codes.

Sometimes a glitch can cause the light to come on, and there may not actually be a problem. If the light remains out, then there is no problem; if it comes back on, then there is.

Sometimes the eml light comes on for a short period for varios reasons like riding the clutch and little glitches in the cars running. As you say it does not put car in limp mode there is nothing to serious wrong. I had two vectras dti that when I was going over a viaduct on the bypass the eml light would come on that was down to air pressure.
