    Default Tv Black 'Spots'

Ive just noticed two dark/black spots that are starting apear on our Tv Screen .. They are both on the right and left of the screen, I noticed the right hand side one around 6-8 weeks ago and its seems to have 'grown'. Now its joined by its friend on the left hand side.

    Anyone know what this is?

Its not a plasma or lcd tv.. Just a Normal 'Old' version

Its coming up to 4 Years old now..

    Any Ideas?

If you see snow it needs tuning and is perfectly normal.
If it becomes all black you need to turn it on.

    Seriously though
Sounds like the tubes on its way out. Some recover liek our Trinitron which went to the small white centralised dot then was fine, others fall off the table and become insurance fodder

unfort due to 'accidents' in the past we were refused Contents insurance for a few years.. Only just got some a month ago and its £125 excess for 'accidental' damage.

Looks like we will be getting our new Flat screen when we decorate the front room.

An interesting thing is though... thats its been switched off for 5 mins and the black spots have disapeared.. what would be wrong with it if they come back the longer the tv is on etc etc

it will no doubt be magnetic interfernce from some external source
some tvs have a bulit in degaus mode that flashes the tube and removes the interference from the screen - similar to those on older pc screens
if not most "decent" tv repair shops have a magnetic "wand" that they can wave across the screen to remove the magnatisim

    hope this helps

could be the phosphorus paint on the inside of the tube on it's way out and going funny when it heats up.
