    Unhappy retro fit fog lights

in have retro fitted fog lamps on my vectra c 55 plate on a 6 chassis
the car is a life model and as standard didnot come with fog lights or multi info display.

i purchased the correct fog lamps, bezzels and lighting switch new from the main dealer.

all the wiring was there to plug it all in and using tech 2 anything and everything to do with the fog lights were switched on but the front fog still don't wanna play ball

any suggestions i read also in this post something about a relay??????????

    help im going mad,

on another note take the tid (triple info display) and replace with a mid (multifunction info display) and get it programmed with tech 2 works a treat just as if it had been fitted as standard

    thanks guys

A very old thread resurrected but,

    Has anyone achieved this?

I tried to advise a fellow member on here about retro fitting front fogs via the under hood electrical centre. He wired everything up per TIS, however he never got it to work.

The wiring diagram on TIS does not mention anything to do with a relay. (reading the last post)

    All it touches upon are

    Fit the correct light switch,
Connect up the link wires from the UEC to the fogs.

Then program the UEC and Instrument panel... not sure if the BCM needs to be told to expect a fog light button actuation signal.

Wiring for those without the wires in the big fat conector are

UEC connector XE2 (The big one with approx 50 pins)
XE2 pin 10 to left front fog - black wire
XE2 pin 37 to right front fog - black wire

Front fog return wire - connect this (brown wire) to same coloured wire on the headlamps or the horns, as these are all grounded to the same pin on the UEC. (pin 18 or 21.. cannot remember which at the moment).

As said above - I cannot find any details about a relay nor fuse for the front fogs.
Although I did get one from Vauxhall for about £7 about 5 years ago, after asking for a front fog light relay.

Any updates on this thread, or do I need to use my wife's 2005 Vectra Energy as a guinea pig.?

Currently I have wired her front fogs via a relay, and a rocker switch built into the light switch assembly,

however I plan to retro fit auto lights with rain / light sensor and auto-dimming mirror. I don't really want to hack the new auto-light switch assembly to transfer the rocker switch across.

Apologies for the war and peace, but like to give all the facts.

You need a compatable UEC & BCM and obviously a foglight switch and the wiring, but I've programmed a couple of users add on foglamps without the need for any relays.

Can't be done with opcom, you need vauxcom or tech2 to do it.

Yes I did the full factory retrofit. Its pretty much as woody says. BCM should be compatible, even my poverty spec's LS worked fine. But as woody says you need to activate the BCM with Tech2. The main issue is you need to match the UEC to your car. ie if your car is a half can diesel you need a uec from a half can Diesel, likewise if your car is a half can petrol you need a uec from a half can petrol. Best bet to look out for someone breaking an SRi or an Elite. You wont even have to have the UEC activated as its remembers its settings and doesnt need paired to your car.

Cheers Woody, I know the bcm is compatible and have sourced another UEC as I thought that would be needed. It was just the relay situation. I have access to tech2 so thats not a problem either

As above I've got a UEC from a same engine SRI spec car. The bcm supports the fogs, its just the wiring from the UEC to add then as thats not there

    Cheers everyone for your help

You may also find that the UEC will behave as if it is not programmable for front fogs,
    BUT
As soon as you enable the front fogs in the BCM,
in many cases the UEC suddenly becomes able to be programmed for front fogs.

The problem with Opcom, is that it is stuck on 2010 software.
The BCM was not supported until later software releases.

Obviously true vauxcom is capable of using the latest software release.. December 2013.
And Tech 2 - well it goes without saying.
