Default How to clean the throttle body of CDTi 1.9?

Can someone please tell me the best way to clean the throttle body of a 1.9 CDTi SRi [150].
Is it an easy job? and how do I do it?

I have a 1.9 120 CDTi and had to have the throttle body replaced last week.
No cleaning option according to VX.
If you have time maybe a used unit could be sourced?

Did you get yours back to try on or did the dealer dispose of it?

It could make an interesting experiment - Vx will always take the official way out & it's probably cheaper for them/you. For the Dealer mechanics to clean such an item would probably cost as much if not more in labour & wouldn't have any warranty whereas the new part does if it goes wrong.

The now nearest 'local' Vx dealer after the demise of Bicknells strongly advised me against cleaning the EGR but I did so without any issues, just as many seem to have done on here.

    PS How's the holiday going?

    Hi Pete,
We are off next week. Fingers crossed for better weather
The dealer retained the part...to be honest it never occured to me to ask for the old one
I had a Mitsubishi with throttle assembly issues some years ago, and while a 'sonic clean' brought a few more miles at the end of the day it had to be replaced.
Costwise? I may have just replaced it first as last and saved the cost of the 'sonic clean'..
I applied the same logic to my Vec.
I'm surprised that these EGR valves & throttle body & swirl valve problems occur as offer as they appear to on modern motors
Could it be a built in problem?
I am doing up a '89 Metro with Readie Junior in time for the 30th do's in 2010. I look fondly at A series simplicity and functionality.
Never mind...can't live in the past eh
    Cheers
    John

That's exactly what the VX dealer said 'full of oil'.
How on earth did it get in there though...

No chance to clean yours out Kev?
