Default How to determine whether my car has ESP stability?

I have a 55-reg facelift Signum Design diesel 150, bought used. According to the brochure I didn't think that it has neither Traction Control (TC) nor Electronic Stability Programme (ESP): - I thought I'd only get these on the Design 150 if ESP+ was specified as an option. I'm fairly sure I don't have TC - I can certainly spin the wheels easily when trying to pull away sharpish in the wet - whereas even my basic Vectra 'B' 2.0LS had TC.

When my Signum was serviced recently, something the dealer said implied that ESP was standard, but ESP+ (complete with TC), is optional.

How can I tell if my car has ESP or ESP+? (I'm thinking of a visual check rather than thrashing the car around some corners).

    Thanks.

I understand that all 1.9cdti 150's came with non-switchable ESP...mine is always enabled...I have a dash mounted switch that does nothing, but looks nice...not as much unlit expanse at the sides of the radio.

No two cars appear to be exactly the same...some people have fitted the switches and they have worked...a light on the dash should illuminate when the ESP is turned off, and extinguish when the ESP is enabled.

take your car on a field and try to spin, the tc should kick in which i found out at a car show trying to get aout of the car park and will save your tyres wearing out as if you were to keep trying on a norm road

No, ESP is a cost option on all models except V6's. Standard on V6's only.

And traction control was DROPPED as standard on all facelift models except V6's, and could only be had as part of the ESP option .

Whilst mine is a V6 and it is as said by john k sri standard on the V6 (pre-facelift). I read somewhere that if you look on the label on the ABS module if it has ESP it will say ESP on the label there. ( it does say ESP on mine).

Not on a non-V6-engined facelift. TC was dropped on all facelifts except V6's. Only fitted if ESP specified on facelifts. VX dropped it because they felt the handling was so much improved on the facelift it was no longer necessary, which is VX code for cost-cutting. What they did was 'bundle it in' with the ESP option, which is what Opel had already been doing because all their Vectra 'C's were fitted with ESP (including TC) as standard, at least in Continental Europe if not in all markets. Unlike in Continental Europe British car manufacturers were not expected or required to fit ESP as standard.

On the Insignia, All models have ESP including TC as standard. Better late than never, I suppose

Please forgive my ignorance, what is 'opcom'?

According to VX brochures the 2.0T has never come with ESP as standard ,and only pre-facelift 2.0T's have TC.

That said I had a scary moment on a bend a few months back and something on the car straightened the car out and I survived. I know it wasn't TC or CBC, so maybe I have ESP as well as TC on my Edition 100. There is a yaw sensor under the car and a yaw sensor fuse in the main fusebox.

IMO it makes a lot of sense for the 2.0T to have ESP fitted as standard.
