    Default Signum User Manual Sucks

    Hi Guys,

As the subject. I looked in the manual and it tells me that the tyres on my car are not the right size. Searched through pages on here with no success.

    Pre Face 3.0 cdti.

    On the car - 205/50ZR17 91W
    In the manual - 215/50 R17 ( No speed rating )

Found on the web - 205/50WR17 XL

Can I use the one I found on the web?

    All help received very greatfully!

Dont bother going for ones with an XL load rating unless your towing a caravan or constantly fill the car with luggage or something. Plus they cost more!

Whoever has fitted 205/50/17 has fitted the wrong size!

I thought the 3.0 CDTi needed XL load rating even on 17" tyres? I know it definitely does on larger/lower profile tyres due to the narrower sidewall.

If your staying with the standard tyre size then theres no need to spend extra on XL's but if your going low profile then it would probably be a good idea.

Is it the standard alloys that are on the car? Are the rest of the tyres all the one size?

    Hi guys,

I was also told that the 3.0 Auto needed the XLs on the front due to the engine weight???

Looks like a typo! 215s all round. Is this ok?

Standard Elite Alloys on the car.

Lol we got there in the end all is fine then, my 3.2 GSI runs on the same tyres i keep it standard the best way in my opinion.

Also XL stands for extra load which basicly is just a thicker sidewall again not specced on the vectra/signum and not really needed unless your planning on putting extra load on them. HTH

Thanks, that helps a lot - I would have thought your 3.2 lump would be a similar weight to my oil burner.

All to try and save a few quid!

Can anyone confirm what load rating came as standard on a 3.0 CDTi with 17" wheels?

    I don't think it's a case of it being a good idea, I'm positive it's a requirement.

The 3.0CDTi engine is a good bit heavier than the 3.2 - hence why it's the only one that requires XL tyres (the specifics of which I'm trying to remember/determine i.e. whether it's all sizes or just lower profile larger tyres).

Surprised no one has mentioned it yet. Change the tyre size to 225/45/17. There's more choice available, which makes them cheaper to buy than the 215/50/17's.
