Default Roof Bars / Roof boxes for 2006 Signum.....

After a very short trip to the inlaws with the new baby, I was shocked at how full the car was. We were there only 2 days and some of the stuff had to go into the passenger compartment, something which I really dont like doing.

What roof bars and boxes do you lot recommend? Need a solution to the space problem and really cannot afford a bigger car just yet.

    Your help is appreciated!

I recently bought myself a roof box - one of a few to go that route recently as I discovered! lol - to use with the Vx bars I've had for a while.

The box is a Karrite Omega (don't think it's a current model and probably why I got it for a really good price). It's 470l and is what I'd call a two-thirds width box i.e. still room to get a bike on top if you put the box over to the driver's side.

Thanks D, what was the cost for that box? Looks a decent size.
What am I looking at for a set of roof bars too?

Box was £145. Bars are I think £100 from a dealer - although I'm sure you can get them a bit cheaper.

The box I don't think is a current model. The Odyssey I believe is the current model but I think it's a full width one i.e. wider but shorter. Plasma has one so he'll be able to clarify that.

I got my bars, genuine Vauxhall, alloy aero, from Archie Moss on ebay - about 75 - 80£ I seem to remember.

As Duncan said, I have the Odyssey 470L roofbox, got it from ebay for £140 plus p&p. It doesnt overhang the back and my boot opens fully, nor does it overhang the front.

I plan to colour code this in Ultra Blue

Now I can see why you couldn't reach the far side of the inside of the box to attach the clamps - it's 'cos it's a full width box. Me smart, me got the two-thirds width option!

PMSL - I can just picture that. One foot on a door handle, the other on the step and one arm gripping on for dear life!
