right for the past few months when the fuel is near red and i go to start the car in the morning it starts then dies and then takes alot of foot pumping and turning of the key to get it going but once it running its fine. I think i have the air leak problem that i have seen on here as i have had the start motor changed as that died on me and also just had a service and the fuel filter change. What i would like to know is there a how to change then pipes or test for an air leak

I have the SAME issue with my 2.2DTi - except I get it around the 1/4 tank mark! I'm intrigued what it may be as I can't let the fuel go less than that and it gets REALLY annoying!!

My 2.2 is the same. As soon as it gets to 1/4 and I park it on an incline over night it will start and then die in the morning... It happened 3 times now, not so annoying yet...

It could be a nonreturn valve , but more likely to be bleed off pipes

Where abouts is the non return valve? Near the tank or up front? Is there only one?

I had a similar issue with my old Vec B 2.2 DTi - took a while to spot that it only did it at the bottom end of the tank, and first realised it after it had been parked on a hill for a while. After that, I just never let it go below 1/3rd of a tank and never had a problem after that.

Put it down to a dodgy take up pipe in the tank or something...

Didn't get round to telling the person I sold it to though...

I had a B 2.2 too. Parked it on a hill over night with almost no fuel and it started up fine next morning in -2°C weather
